We offer an advanced access appointment system that means you can be sure of getting an appointment with a doctor within 24 hours of your request.
You are welcome to see any one of our doctors although for continuity of care we do encourage you to see the same doctor for the same ongoing complaint. However, it may not always be possible for you to see your preferred doctor and we therefore encourage patients to build a relationship with a second doctor as well.
Each appointment is for one patient with one medical problem only. Please make a separate appointment for each member of your family or if you have more than one medical problem. If you feel your condition is medically urgent you will be seen on the same day, although not always with the doctor of your choice and it may be necessary to wait.
The surgery doors are opened at 7.30am to allow you to call in and make an appointment. These times may vary slightly according to the doctor you are seeing.
We close at 6.30pm Monday to Friday. Please note there are no routine doctors appointments on a Wednesday afternoon, however, the surgery remains open for other clinics (nurse, minor surgery etc.) and for collection of repeat prescriptions.
PLEASE NOTE: Appointments between 7.00am and 8.00am weekdays will only be available as pre-bookable up to 14 days in advance. This service is for the convenience of all our patients. GPs will alternate each day and so it may not always be possible to see the doctor of your choice for these appointments.
Extended Hours Surgeries
Due to the popularity of the early weekday morning Extended Hours surgeries, we will be introducing a second GP who will see patients from 7.00am until 8.00am. These appointments are pre-bookable up to 14 days in advance.

You can pre-book an appointment with a named doctor up to 14 days in advance. However, if you require an on the day appointment you will need to telephone the surgery as early as possible after 7.30am. This is the time that all on the day appointments, both morning and afternoon, will be released.
If you ring before 12 noon you will be offered an appointment, although the earlier you ring the more choice of appointments and doctors you will have.If you ring after 12 noon there may only be a limited number of emergency appointments available.
If you wish to see a particular Doctor (and we do encourage you to stick to the same doctor for the same problem) we will book you in with your chosen doctor unless they are not consulting that day or their surgery has already been filled. It is therefore also advisable to build a relationship with a second doctor to avoid disappointment.
If you feel your condition is medically urgent you will be seen on the same day, although not always by the doctor of your choice and it may be necessary to wait.
We have a number of pre-bookable appointments every day for both morning and afternoon surgeries. These are pre-bookable up to 14 days in advance.
Patient Self Check-In screen
We have introduced a self check-in screen at Wilson Street Surgery to allow patients to let us know that they have arrived for their appointment. We hope this will alleviate the need for you to queue at Reception simply to let us know you have arrived. We will make a member of the Reception team available to show you how to use the screen which is very simple to operate.
If you are unable to attend your booked appointment, please let us know in advance so we can offer the appointment to someone else.
If you are late for your appointment, you may be asked to re-book another appointment or you may have to sit and wait until the end of surgery before you are able to be seen. Patients who arrive after you but who are on time for their appointment, will be given precedence.
Surgery at Boots, Westfield Centre, Derby Appointments
For the convenience of our registered patients, we have a 'satellite' surgery at Boots in the Westfield Centre. A GP will be present to consult with patients who wish to be seen at Boots if more convenient.
The GP consulting hours are Monday to Friday 11:00am until 1:00pm.
There will be a Receptionist available at Boots from Monday to Friday 10.45am until 1.15pm. This is to help you with booking appointments, prescription requests, new patient registrations and any surgery queries you may have.
You can pre-book an appointment with the doctor by telephoning the Appointments Line at Wilson Street Surgery 01332 332628 and requesting an appointment at Boots.
GP cover at Boots will rotate each weekday so it will not always be possible to see the doctor of your choice.
This service is not an emergency or 'walk in' service.
Appointment lines (01332 674355) are available:
Monday : 8.00am to 12 noon and 2.30pm to 5.15pm.
